Pre-Treatment Instructions
Before Your Appointment
  • Shave the area 12–24 hours before treatment.
  • No waxing, tweezing, or epilators 4 weeks before.
  • Avoid tanning & self-tanners 1–2 weeks prior.
  • Do not apply lotions, deodorant, perfumes, or makeup on treated areas.
  • Pause retinoids, acids, and exfoliants for 3–5 days before treatment.
  • Let your technician know about medications or recent antibiotic use.
  • Hydrate well and come with clean, dry skin.
Who Should Avoid IPL
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding clients.
  • Clients using Accutane (must wait 6 months).
  • Recent chemical peels or laser treatments in the area (within 2 weeks).
  • Recently tanned or sunburned skin.
  • Active infections, open wounds, or skin irritation in the area.
Post-Treatment Care
Aftercare Essentials
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, sweating, and gyms for 24–48 hours.
  • Use soothing aloe gel or calming moisturizer if redness occurs.
  • Do not scratch, exfoliate, or pick at the area.
  • Wear SPF daily — treated skin becomes more sun-sensitive.
  • Redness or “pepper spots” are normal and fade gradually.
  • Hair will shed over the next 1–2 weeks — do not pull it out.
  • You may shave between sessions, but DO NOT wax or tweeze.
When to Contact Us
  • If redness lasts more than 48 hours.
  • If blistering, burning, or extreme sensitivity occurs.
  • If you accidentally got sun exposure before or after treatment.
  • If you are unsure whether a skin product is safe to use.
IPL Hair Removal FAQ
How many IPL sessions will I need? +
Most clients need about 6–8 sessions spaced every 4–6 weeks. Hair grows in cycles, so multiple visits are needed to catch each growth phase.
Is IPL hair removal painful? +
You may feel a quick warmth or light “snap” on the skin, but treatments are usually very tolerable and much more comfortable than waxing. Sensitive areas can feel a bit stronger, but sessions are quick.
Can I tan or use self-tanner before my appointment? +
No. Please avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, and self-tanners for at least 1–2 weeks before treatment. Tanned skin increases the risk of sensitivity and can affect your results.
Can I shave between IPL sessions? +
Yes. You can shave as needed between appointments, but do not wax, tweeze, or use epilators because they remove the hair root that IPL targets.
When will I start seeing results? +
Many clients notice slower, finer regrowth after just 1–2 sessions. Full results build gradually over your full series of treatments.
Is IPL hair removal permanent? +
IPL significantly reduces hair growth long-term. Some clients may need occasional maintenance sessions depending on hormones, genetics, and area treated.
